South Hams-based Nearly Naked Veg Company and vegboxes.com of Plymouth have joined forces, which will enable greater penetration of the Plymouth and South Hams market place. The combination of the two businesses, which will trade as the Nearly Naked Veg Company, also means greater emphasis will be placed on customer service.
Paddy Paddison of vegboxes.com explained: “It’s fantastic that we are joining forces and a very exciting time for the company. Looking after every one of our doorstep customers is key and that’s what I will be concentrating on. More and more people are enjoying the convenience of a doorstep delivery service and by being at the frontline, it means I can talk to all our customers, and more importantly make sure they are happy with their veg and fruit boxes.”
The addition of Paddison to the team means Ben Brunning, who founded of the award winning Nearly Naked Veg Company, will concentrate primarily on the farming side and wholesale side of the company.
He said: “The Nearly Naked Veg Company has grown very quickly since we set it up three years ago. But its success means my time was being compromised, so by joining together, Paddy can concentrate on customer relations, which he excels at, and I can spend my time farming which is the aspect of the business I love.
“We already have a very good product range, but I will be expanding this, experimenting with some new planting and generally having a lot of fun on the growing side which will mean even more interesting veg boxes for everyone to enjoy.”
The company is also committed to reducing its impact on the environment and has recently introduced a new type of box which is more durable and will be ticked every time it is used so that customers are aware of the number of times it is recycled.
“We’re also giving customers the option to change one item in their box. So if there’s a backlog of carrots, or they’re fed up with onions, they just leave a note in the box we collect and we will replace it with a surprise veg there and then,” added Ben.
The Nearly Naked Veg Company already has an extensive range of products available on line including herbs and garlic, fresh bread, milk, eggs, logs and a wonderful range of flavoured salts from local company Devon Smokehouse.
