The annual National Cupcake Championships is held for professional bakers in London. There are six different categories and the first time this year they'd had a savoury category.
Kate's winning Cakeadoodledo Salsa Verde Summer cupcake was a proper sponge, but with lots of parmesan, capers, sun dried tomatoes and homemade salsa verde and then a topping of Langage Devon cream cheese and salsa verde. The herbs were local and butter was from Quickes, so all in all, a celebration of Devon produce, skills and creativity.
Kate is a trained artist and this shines through in the beautiful and innovative designs and decoration of her cupcakes and celebration cakes.
Although Kate says she's a bit sceptical about the future for savoury cupcakes, Kate said "If they were made mini-muffin sized and served with something very cold and grown up (and Devonian of course) they'd be really quite delicious."
The photo shows Kate with judges Ed Kimber (Boy who Bakes) and Ms Cupcake (Vegan baker extraordinaire and winner of multiple prizes).
