The Husbandry School

The Husbandry School and its beautiful gardens are set in a stunning hilltop location just outside Ashburton, Devon. We offer a range of inspirational courses, produce local food for local people and provide chefs with high quality local produce. We love to put the odd, bizarre, nutritious and delicious into the kitchen and grow lots of heritage varieties, keeping them alive and well.

We are passionate about giving you the skills to grow your own food and have a team of knowledgeable tutors leading courses ideal for food lovers and those who want to learn about growing their own food in a natural and sustainable way. Courses include ‘From Dirt to Dinner’ where you can learn to create a productive vegetable and flower garden and bring some more unusual things to your dinner table such as extraordinary herbs and ancient vegetable varieties. Our ‘Eat your own Flowerbeds’ invites you to spend a day in the garden and kitchen and learn to identify, grow and cook with edible flowers and make lovely flower preserves, flower oils and petal sugars.

We also offer courses in ancient husbandry skills, earth skills and arts & crafts using natural materials. A full list of our courses and activities is available on our website.
